"It Takes a Village" This timeless proverb is more than just a saying for us—it's the foundation of our work. At Takes a Village, we are a community engagement organization committed to a simple, yet powerful, vision: ensuring equitable access to health and social care, education, and housing for all.
We know that racism, discrimination, and systemic inequalities cast a long shadow, creating formidable barriers that prevent people from living healthy, fulfilling lives. These challenges disproportionately affect marginalized individuals, often leaving them on the sidelines and without the vital support they need.
This is why our journey began with a clear purpose: to confront these inequities head-on. In collaboration with the Wandsworth Community Empowerment Network (WCEN) and South West London And St George's (SWLSTG) Health NHS Trust, we have delivered impactful interventions through the Ethnicity and Mental Health Improvement Project (EMHIP). Our work in the Wandsworth borough includes:
We are dedicated to supporting Black and ethnic minority communities on their mental health journey. Our approach is two-fold: we work directly with individuals, providing a wealth of resources, expert advice, and vital support, while also collaborating with organizations to improve the systemic issues that contribute to poor mental health.
Ultimately, we empower individuals with the tools they need to overcome barriers, find their voice, and lead a fulfilling life.
We are Takes a Village, and we believe that together, we can create a system where everyone belongs.
Welcome! We are here to support the mental health and growth of our BAME community!
